概要（Project Summary）
本活動は、地域連携教育研究プロジェクトです。本学の学生がデザイン思考*の方法を用い、外国人住民や市の担当者に学習言語でインタビューを実施し、問題を発見し解決に至るまでのプロセスを通して、地域との関わりを深めることを目的としています。同時に、地域社会の一員として、多様な人々が相互に理解し、協働しながら課題に取り組む力を育成することは重要な課題となっています。単なる知識の習得にとどまらず、専門分野や文化的背景を越えた協働を通じて社会課題に主体的に関わる学びは、社会参画の促進や持続可能な地域社会の基盤形成に寄与します。
This activity is a community-based education and research project. Using Design Thinking* methods, students at the university conduct interviews in the language they are learning with foreign residents and municipal officials, identify issues, and work through the process of developing solutions, thereby deepening their engagement with the local community. At the same time, fostering the ability of diverse individuals, as members of their communities, to understand one another and collaborate in addressing challenges has become an important issue. Moving beyond the mere acquisition of knowledge, learning that involves actively engaging with social issues through collaboration across disciplines and cultural backgrounds contributes to promoting social participation and building the foundation for sustainable local communities.
プロジェクトでは、デザイン思考を用いプロジェクトの全ての行程を学習言語で進めていきます。このプロジェクトのユニークな点は、行政や市が一連の課題を出すのではなく、実際に住んでいる外国人住民に聞き取り調査をし、学生が自ら問題点を見つけ出すことです。これにより、外国人住民の生の意見から必要性が高いものを選別、問題解決に取りかかることができます。
In this project, all stages of the process are carried out in the target language using Design Thinking. A unique feature of this project is that, rather than being given a set of issues by the local government or city authorities, students conduct interviews with foreign residents actually living in the community and identify problems on their own. This approach enables students to select issues of high importance based on the authentic voices of foreign residents and to begin working toward solutions.
活動は2013年にスタートし、有志による活動を経て、2017年度から2024年度までは英語科目として実施し、2023年度からは留学生との合同プログラムとして実施していました。2026年度より日本語科目として実施しています。現在、Design for the Communityは、授業終了後も成果物の完成を目指し、活動の継続を希望する学生の拠点となっています。
The activity began in 2013 and, after initially being carried out by volunteer participants, was offered as an English-language course from the 2017 to 2024 academic years. From 2023, it was also implemented as a joint program with international students. As of the 2026 academic year, it is being offered as a Japanese-language course.
Design for the Community serves as a hub for students who wish to continue their work after the course has ended and aim to complete their project outcomes.
*Design thinking/デザイン思考とは、近年複雑化している問題に対し、例えば、環境問題やエネルギー問題など、ビジネスや社会全体を巻き込んで新しいモノづくりやコトづくり、更には、新しい価値を生み出す問題解決を導き出す方法です。この考え方はモノ中心ではなくヒト中心のデザインを構築し、商品を作るのではなく地域全体をデザインし、その地域の風土にあった商品やサービスをデザインしていくというものです。
* Design Thinking is a method that points the way to innovative solutions to complex problems in the contemporary world, such as the environment, through direct involvement in the community. Above all, this method is human-centered, in contrast to product-centered methodologies, and focuses on design that fits the particular needs and characteristics of a given community.

プロジェクトスケジュール （Project Schedule）
- 学生を対象としたデザイン思考ワークショップの実施
- Empathize：外国人住民や市の担当者へのインタビューの実施
- Define：インタビューで得られた情報を整理し、問題点を抽出
- Ideate：問題の解決策についてアイデアを出し合い、検討
- Prototype：解決策のプロトタイプを作製
- Test：インタビュー対象者にプロトタイプを説明し、フィードバックを収集

- Conduct a design thinking workshop for students

交流ワークショップ
外国人住民同士が情報交換できる場の提供を目的として「おにぎりワークショップ」を実施しました。- 公益財団法人澁谷学術文化スポーツ振興財団より2024年度文化活動に対する助成金の採択を受けました。
- 2025年１月に野々市市役所にてパンフレットの受贈式が実施され、粟市長にもご出席いただきました。

「防災ワークショップ」「交流ワークショップ」の実施。 「防災ワークショップ」では、既存のパンフレットやアプリの使い方のワークショップを行うことで防災意識を高めることを狙いとした。「交流ワークショップ」では外国人住民と学生の交流より既存のパンフレットの情報や生活に役立つ情報交換できる、インタラクティブなコミュニケーションの場を提供した。- 一般社団法人大学コンソーシアム石川平成29年度地域連携推進事業、地域課題研究ゼミナールの採択を受けました。

「ホスピタルインターフェイス（外国人向け医療施設サポートウェブアプリ）」 「家庭ごみ分別表 (5374)（ウェブアプリ版）」- 一般社団法人大学コンソーシアム石川平成27年度地域連携推進事業、地域課題研究ゼミナールの採択を受けました。平成27年2月20日（土）、一般社団法人大学コンソーシアム石川主催「2015大学・地域アクティブフォーラム」で成果報告を実施、優秀賞に選ばれ表彰を受けました。
- 平成28年2月9日（火）野々市市役所にて仕上がったパンフレットの受贈式が実施され、粟市長にもご出席いただきました。
- 2015年度より、金沢工業高等専門学校（現 国際高等専門学校）の学生とも恊働プロジェクトとして実施しています。また、今までに取り組んだ「家庭ゴミ分別表」は、Code for Kanazawa (非営利団体でITを使って地域の問題解決をする団体)との協働プロジェクトとして5374（ゴミなし）アプリの英語版作成にも携わっています。

“Hospital Interface (App which functions to help non-Japanese people figure out their way around when visiting a hospital)” English version of 5374.jp app (garbage separation method)”- This project was funded by a grant from 2015 University Consortium Ishikawa as a community Community Service Research Seminar. On February 20th, 2016, at the "2015 University/Community Active Forum," Design for the Community received the Outstanding Performance Award and a commendation.
- On February 9th, 2016, the city of Nonoichi held a ceremony in which project members presented the pamphlets to Mayor Takaaki Awa.
KTC (currently ITC) students have been involved in this project from the beginning of the 2015 academic year. Also, building on our experience with the garbage pamphlet (Nonoichi City Home Garbage Collection Dates and Information), we are collaborating with Code for Kanazawa (NPO group that solves problems using IT) to create an application (called 5374) containing up-to-date garbage separation information.
