Our Philosophy

The Kanazawa Institute of Technology Library Center (KIT-LC) was founded in 1982, and it was envisioned as an academic library with a completely new concept for the 21st century.
We pursued and realized the ideals that the library should be a useful and easy to use tool and a place for academic studies, education, and research. As evidence of this, the library center was the first in Japan to implement computerized, card-less catalog system. Additionally, it was the first library center in the world to adopt a subject librarian system staffed by university faculty members. To realize the ideals, KIT-LC provides service information on various media to students, staff, faculty, and graduates using the latest technology. Furthermore, we provide an efficient and comfortable environment for accessing online information, academic study, reading, and reference services.
For the community of the Kanazawa Institute of Technology, we will continue to explore new ways of using university libraries that make full use of media technologies in order to keep the library center as an attractive “knowledge playground.”
