April, 1965   Established Kanazawa Institute of Technology Library
1970
April, 1973   A nationwide newspaper collection was established
March, 1979   Name changed from the KIT Library to the Kanazawa Institute of Technology Library Center
April, 1979   Kanazawa Institute of Technology was designated as a school for the trial use of JAPAN/MARC
November, 1979   The ground-breaking ceremony of the Library Center was held

October, 1980   JAPAN/MARC Open Lecture was held
October, 1980   Determined the floor plan for the specialized field
December, 1981   Yasushi Sakai was appointed as the first director
March, 1982   The completion ceremony of Kanazawa Institute of Technology Library Center was held
April, 1982   Implemented computerized circulation management system
April, 1982   Implemented Library search system “LINKIT-IR”
April, 1982   Rolled out Special Librarian system
May, 1982   Started to use computerized circulation management system
May, 1982   Started AVIS (Audio Visual Information System) 
May, 1982   Release of “LINKIT” magazine(the final volume Vol.36, released in 2002)
June, 1982   Changes made to LC and Study Hall opening hours 【LC: Close at 7 pm weekdays and 5 pm Saturday】 【Study Hall: Close at 10 pm】
June, 1982   Establishment Ceremony for Library Center was held 
January, 1983   Extended opening hours during exam week (A week before the exams LC closed at 10 pm Saturday and Sunday)
April, 1983   Opened to local community and began issuing guest user cards
June, 1983   Library Center began publishing lists of SL’s recommended books in KIT’s internal publication for alumni, “Back up”
February, 1984   Created a basic plan for reserved book system 
April, 1984   Started CAI(KAPITAL) system
April, 1984   Started collecting and arranging graduation research papers
October, 1984   Launched online information search service across public libraries in Hokuriku region
April, 1985   Started DIALOG Online Database
April, 1986   Started BITNET (Because It's Time Network) service
April, 1986   Developed communication software for external DB search from personal computer, and started JOIS
April, 1986   Extended opening hours until 10 pm on weekday and 5pm on Saturday
April, 1987   Started Reserved Book System
April, 1988   Special exhibition, The Books That Changed the World, was held in National Museum of Nature and Science in Tokyo (April 26-May 15)
November, 1988   Started journal content copy service
June, 1989   Installed three self-checkout machines

May, 1990   Made the table of contents of academic journals available electronically
April, 1991   Established the lifelong learning room 
October, 1991   Installed a new version of AVIS
March, 1992   Over 100,000 visitors to the LC in the 11th year since its in 1982
September, 1992   Moved the Popular Music Collection (PMC) to the Library Center
April, 1993   Renamed the International Conference Room as “Sakai Memorial Hall”
March, 1995   Signed an agreement on information exchange between Massachusetts Institute of Technology Libraries and Kanazawa Institute of Technology Library Center 
April, 1996   Established Multimedia Kobo
January, 1997   Opened the Library Center website
April, 1999   Extended opening hours from 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday and holiday
September, 1999   Updated the OPAC system to LINKIT-Ⅲ
October, 1999   Started NACSIS-CAT/ILL Catalog Information Service 
2000
January. 2001   Issued the Proceedings from the International Round Table Conference
April, 2001   Established Center of Learning Support (The name was changed to the Learning Support Desk in November of the same year)
November, 2001   Signed a letter of resource sharing agreement between the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Library and the Kanazawa Institute of Technology Library Center
December, 2001   The electronic journal service was launched
January, 2002   Signed memorandum of understanding between the University of Hawaii at Manoa Libraries and the Kanazawa Institute of Technology Library Center
September, 2002   Extended Senior’s borrowing period from one week to two weeks
April, 2003   K.I.T. Writing Center was established
December, 2003   Issued “Writing Guide” created by the Writing Center 
January, 2004   Started to subscribe to the electronic Journals
March, 2004   Established “Chemistry and Biology,” and “Life Science and Psychology” collections on the 10th floor
April, 2004   LC Portal site was opened
September, 2004   Over 200,000 visitors to the LC in the 23rd year since its in 1982
December, 2004   "International Roundtable Conference" received awards from the Library of Congress
August, 2005   Installed wireless LAN on the 2nd floor, 4th to 11th floor and the courtyard
August, 2006   Started reminder / return guidance by email
April, 2007   Launched online ILL application service for students 
April, 2007   Renewed the Library Center website
July, 2007   Established Women-Only Reading Room on 11th floor
November, 2007   Signed memorandum of understanding between the University of Virginia Library and the Kanazawa Institute of Technology Library Center
January, 2008   Academic databases were started (Web of Science)
April, 2008   launched and electric journal portal site, "LC-Linker," and started a service of link resolver, "Serials Solutions"
February, 2009   Academic databases were started (Scopus)
April, 2009   Implemented "KIT BRAIN BANK", a field-of-study specific CRM system for all students

April, 2012   Special exhibition, The Books That Changed the World, was held in 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa (April 4-March 19)
February, 2013   Started an electronic database for project reports and thesis from Kanazawa Technical College graduates
April, 2013   Renewed the Library Center website
April, 2013   Advanced academic information discovery search service, "KIT Search," was started
September, 2013   Special exhibition, The Books That Changed the World, was held in Nagoya City Science Museum (Sep. 13-29)
February, 2014   Started an electronic database for thesis of master and doctor degrees
October, 2014   Started to collect of E-Books
March, 2015   Started KIT Institutional Repository
November, 2015   Special exhibition, The Books That Changed the World, was held in Grand Front Osaka (Nov. 6-23)
April, 2016   Group study rooms, referred to as Knowledge Square, were established on the 3rd floor 
June, 2017   Special exhibition, The Records that Changed the world in Grand Front Osaka (June 6-July 23)
July, 2017   The STEM Biblio Plaza was established
March, 2018   Established Library and Work Commons in Hakusanroku Campus
