Educational Objectives of the College of Informatics and Human Communication and its Departments

In our highly information-oriented society, engineers who can identify problems and propose solutions using information technologies are needed in every field. We regard information as a means of communication among things, people and society, and encourage students to study collaboratively and extensively beyond the disciplines of media, management and psychology. We produce flexible, creative human resources who can use the knowledge and skills obtained in the program with an open mind toward people and society, and contribute to the enrichment of people’s lives.

Department Objectives
Media Informatics

We are now living in a ubiquitous network society with information communication via all kinds of media. We teach our students about the latest information technologies, such as CG, mobile technology and network security, and help them to gain the sensibility required for the creation of digital content such as visual images, music and websites, as well as planning and implementation skills to integrate these in a practical manner. We produce flexible, creative engineers who are able to develop and operate digital content, systems and services in every field of society.

Management Systems

In today’s globalized and highly advanced information society, engineers who have basic skills in both management and information technology, and can utilize them in the real world, are required in every field. In this department, students acquire the following basic skills: (1) management skills, (2) marketing skills, (3) financial skills and (4) information and communication skills. We produce human resources who integrate these skills to launch new businesses that are beneficial to society, and who solve social problems through business using knowledge and skills regarding the efficient management of businesses and organizations, as well as information technology.

Psychological Science

Understanding the workings of the human mind is becoming important not only in everyday life but also for the manufacturing industry. In this department, students learn about the mind’s function and acquire skills for application in clinical settings, skills for measuring sensibilities and mind function scientifically, how to apply them in the real world, and skills for understanding the relationship between the brain/nerve structure and mind function.
