Undergraduate Admission Policy

KIT provides education based on our policies of "Ideal character building", "Further technical innovation" and "Superb academic-industrial cooperation" to produce engineers who will think and act for themselves.

We expect the students who enroll at our school to have the motivation to develop their qualities and abilities, as well as their interest in manufacturing, and to have inquiring minds with regard to science and technology.

Profile of the KIT Student

A clear purpose and a sense of meaning with regard to studying at KIT

  1. Has a clear purpose for studying at KIT and an intellectual interest in the creation of new values
  2. Wants to use his/her knowledge of science and engineering, and aims to play an active role in society
  3. Has an interest in scientific technology and its applied fields, and will take on challenges with regard to manufacturing

The ability to make full use of KIT's education system

  1. Understands the features of our education system and wishes to use it effectively to improve his/her abilities
  2. Can actively engage with others and work collaboratively with team members

Basic academic skills required for studying scientific technology

  1. Enjoys studying mathematics and science, and has the basic academic skills required for studying at KIT
  2. Has an interest in society, and basic skills in English, Japanese, geography, history, civics, information, etc. to put form to various types of information and express their ideas.
Skills to be acquired before admission to KIT

It is necessary to have a good grounding in the basic subjects (mathematics, science, English, Japanese, geography, history, civics, information, etc.).

We evaluate students based on the following criteria for admission.

Special selection for graduates of technical colleges
As we value the characteristics of technical colleges, we select graduates based on an interview, their reasons for applying to our school, their dossier, etc. We look for a positive attitude and motivation for manufacturing, as well as an interest in scientific technology and its applications. In addition, we evaluate practical experience with regard to processes and methods for all stages from identifying problems to finding solutions, logical thinking (idea-finding skills, critical thinking, configuration, development, judgement, expression and dissemination) and co-creation skills for working actively with various types of people.

AO Selection

Based on the interview, essay and the contents of the entry sheet, we evaluate the student's purpose and sense of meaning with regard to studying at KIT, as well as the clarity of their plans to improve their skills. In addition, we evaluate practical experience with regard to processes and methods for all stages from identifying problems to finding solutions, logical thinking (idea-finding skills, critical thinking, configuration, development, judgement, expression and dissemination) and co-creation skills for working actively with various types of people.

Admission based on recommendation

We carry out a comprehensive evaluation of the learning outcomes, purpose, and motivation for improvement, based on the recommendation of the principal of the applicant's school, as well as on his/her dossier and reasons for applying.

General Admission

We value the knowledge and skills acquired in high school, and evaluate fundamental skills based on the student's academic test results and dossier.

Use of the results of National Center Test for University Admission

We value the knowledge and skills acquired in high school, and evaluate comprehensive skills based on the student's academic test results and dossier.
